DAY SIX: Random Acts of Kindness Day
What a fitting day for the last day of GUOTS. Talk about the kindness you’ve seen in the blogging world, the positives and the things that are uplifting. Talk about the good, and the good that can be done, too.
I blogged sever years ago, but I was not very consistent and I mainly blogged about the Backstreet Boys and NASCAR. I mainly posted of when I updated my stories and that was it. I gave it up for a few years. One day early last year I stumbled upon a reading challenge that made me want to start blogging again, but this time I didn’t want to blog about NASCAR or the Backstreet Boys. Instead I wanted to blog about books and join the book blogging community.
I did not know how much I had missed out in the book blogging community. And I did not know how wonderful and welcoming it was.
DAY FIVE: Kittens + Books
Last year I [Rachel] did Puppies + Books and oh my gosh, it was so fun. I loved it so much that I’m bringing it back, but with kittens! All you have to do is match book covers with kittens! (I recommend using Pinterest, or something of the like. I’d scroll around until I found a picture that reminded me of a book cover, then pair the two together.)
I did not know which of the two choices to pick for today, however, I thought it would be interesting to try to see if I could accomplish this one. I think I did good considering…
DAY FOUR: Get A Different Name Day
Have you ever wanted a different name? Maybe something along the lines of Princess Consuela Banana Hammock? Well then, today is just for you! Create a list of characters who’d names you’d very much like to steal. Piece of cake!
With a name like Penni I have always disliked my name mainly because I would keep being called quarter, nickel, dime…you get the picture. It always seemed so plain and even if I don’t stick out, I am not plain.
I always wished for a different name or I’d come up with creative, yet not so plain names for future children or characters in the many stories I would create or want to create. I do not wish to share all those because what if it’s a name someone see for the first time and then decides they like it? It’s my name and I’m stingy! Just kidding! LOL.
Here are a like of names that I currently like and would like to name a child or character…
DAY THREE: Umbrella Day
It is, in fact, Umbrella Day. (Don’t ask me who comes up with these things.) And what does an umbrella do? Shield you from rain–and tears. So today is all about sad books, the ones that made you cry, eat a bowl of chocolate-drenched ice cream, and watch all the fluffy movies. Or you can interpret it another way! I just figured umbrellas equal rain equals sad books. Just be careful of spoilers!
So I decided to go a different route with this topic and list characters that can shield you (like an umbrella) from harm, pain, saddness, etc…
DAY TWO: The Book Bonanza
Let’s tie in to badges and winning things by creating book awards, or something of the like. This can go one two ways: first, creating actual awards–like an award show–but bookish. Or, create book badges, perhaps to fill up a reader’s tote as they accomplish all the bookish things.
I have to admit that I thought both choices for today were a bit hard which is one of the many reasons I am so late in posting. But I took a cue from Rachel herself and decided to make badges for readers.
I participated in this extravaganza last year, which was very helpful since I had just started blogging again. I am so glad that Rachel decided to host it again!
DAY ONE: Interview with Myself
And like last time, I’m cheating a little bit and pretty much copying and pasting my ‘About Me’ page with a few additions or subtractions.
DAY TEN: The Positives of Blogging
It’s THE LAST DAY. I hope you’ve enjoyed the Blogging Extravaganza and that it’s helped to give you a gentle shove back into blogging, and that it’s given you some blogging inspiration. For the last post we’re getting just a wee bit serious. Even if you’re struggling with blogging, you’re still here and you’re still doing this; there’s a reason why you don’t want to quit blogging, and you know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. So tell us: Why are you still here? What makes blogging worth it? Why is it so fun and fantastic and you don’t want to let it go? Why do you love it? (And the goods outweigh the few hardships, don’t they?)
DAY NINE: My Dream Easter Basket
March 27 was Easter, and Easter, among other things, means a bunny delivers you a basket filled with goodies. What would be in your basket? And please, feel free to make our wallets weep because we will want All The Things and need them Immediately.
DAY EIGHT: Plan a Fictional Trip
I don’t know about you, but there a lot of fictional places I would love to visit (some for years and some for literally just a second). So plan a trip! You’ll get an unlimited budget (just use cheat code THISISFICTIONAL at your bank) and then plan the whole thing. Where you’re going, who you’ll see, what you’ll do–paint the picture! And then every time it’s 11:11 make a wish to go on that damn trip.
DAY SEVEN: Pitch a Book
You really, really liked or loved a book but like no one’s reading it and that makes you a sad panda. So pitch the hell out of that book to us. Use whatever mediums and supplies and bribes you want, cover all the best points of the book, and get people to desperately want–no, need–to read it. In a sense, this is like a review. But it’s not your typical format and it’s a chance to refresh something that seems to be in such a set outline across the board.
So I decided to do something a little different since I couldn’t pick just one. I decided to split them into various points in my life, so basically none of them are new…so you definitely should consider reading them.
